Lee Ann Thornton , an interior designer based in Greenwich, Connecticut and now also in New York City, has designed some gorgeous blue and white spaces. She incorporates many shades of blue into her designs and adds other accent colors to create interesting and sophisticated spaces that are traditional and elegant.
Here are some of my favorites from the last few years.
A gorgeous lacquered butler’s pantry:
A peaceful and pretty pale blue dining room and adjoining living room:
Isn’t the Chinoiserie wallpaper by Gracie beautiful in the dining room below?
The pops of yellow work well with the blue and white in this Connecticut coastal home:
Notice that Thornton often adds brown pieces to her rooms which keeps the blues and whites from looking too sweet and predictable:
This bunk room is perfect for a beach house:
Isn’t the fabric covered light fixture pretty over the breakfast table?
Here are some photos from a ranch home in Connecticut that Thornton designed and were published in House Beautiful this month:
I love the gorgeous chintz floral wall paper in the dining room:
The pops of apple green and purple make the blue and white palette less predictable in the room below:
A young girl’s room:
A sweet boys’ room:
Thornton experiments with many shades of blue in her designs. Her rooms feel comfortable yet sophisticated, and are always pretty and classic. Do you have any favorites?
