Home Tour: A Feminine and Effervescent Palm Beach Apartment

Today I am sharing a tour of a bright and ultra-feminine home. The home is a one-bedroom apartment located in the Palm Beach Towers in Palm Beach, Florida and was featured in House Beautiful in May 2014.  The apartment, decorated by T. Keller Donovan, is owned by Kay Gilman, who was the first female sportswriter for the New York Daily News.

The space features an abundance of coral ikat fabric (Quadrille’s Island Ikat), creating a cheerful and lively mood. Donovan told House Beautiful he was aiming to create the feel of a “tropical cabana.” Here is the living room:

I love this photo of the owner in her small office off of the living room wearing an outfit that perfectly matches her coral daybed:

In the dining nook below, Donovan uses the the same ikat fabric for the table skirt to help unify the space with the living room. He incorporates some chinoiserie elements including the pagoda light fixtue, the guilded mirror, and the bamboo chairs.

The bedroom and bathroom are unabashedly feminine and full of bright and cheerful floral prints, with touches of apple green throughout:

I love the Palm Beach inspired colors and prints of the owner’s clothing in the closet!

Doesn’t this apartment just make you smile?

  1. So pretty and fresh and uplifting. I love seeing a SKIRTED TABLE in a room in the 2000s! Just love it all. Thanks for the beautiful little visit to Palm Springs.
