Designer Spotlight: Pencil & Paper Co.

One of my favorite design companies is Pencil & Paper Co. based in Nashville. The company is run by husband and wife team Genifer and Benjamin Sohr. The couple has a background in retail visual merchandising (Gen) and store design and architecture (Ben) and they are a stylish pair! Their interior creations are some of the happiest and most cheerful spaces I have seen.

Many of the designs that you will see in the photos below are from rooms in their own homes. The Sohrs have in the last few years renovated several Nashville homes, each of which they have fixed up, lived in, and then sold before starting on a new project.

Here are some photos of their rooms:

There are lots of white walls and light filled spaces, but on occasion there are pops of fun wallpaper and black walls, as seen below.

Every room seems to have something vintage or thrifted-looking alongside some modern art and graphic contemporary textiles. All the spaces are a fresh mix of old and new.

Notice the blue and white touches and rattan pieces in this guest room (above and below).

All the spaces are casual and family-friendly, and many are full of color and whimsy, as seen below.

I find the Sohrs’ style fresh, colorful, and cheerful and love their mix of traditional and contemporary. They do a great job at putting a modern and casual spin on classic designs. Their spaces are beautiful, yet informal, fun, and livable. If you like their style, you might want to try the design-to-go service that Pencil & Paper offers.  I am tempted to try it myself!
