My Favorite Indoor/Outdoor Rugs

I imagine that many of you are starting to get your porches and other outdoor spaces freshened up for spring and summer. Although I don’t have any outdoor spaces to decorate, I know exactly what rug I would use on a porch or patio if I had one!

The company Dash and Albert, founded by Annie Selke, makes fabulous rugs, and Dash and Albert indoor/outdoor rugs are the prettiest and nicest that I have seen.  The rugs come in a huge variety of colors, sizes, and patterns. They are super easy to clean—you just hose them down and scrub any stains with soap and a brush, and they dry quickly and look like new. They are made of polypropylene, a synthetic, but they amazingly look and feel like they are woven of natural fibers.

These rugs work really well inside, too, and are especially good in high-traffic areas like mudrooms, entrances, kitchens, bathrooms and stairs.  They are perfect if you have pets and kids.  I have two of these rugs in our apartment (see below photos)—in front of the kitchen sink and in the guest bathroom—and I love them.

Here are some photos I found of other rooms that feature Dash and Albert rugs:

The dogs in those photos are awfully cute, but what do you think of the rugs?

  1. You captured well the beauty of these rugs! Love Dash and Albert and have a few in my home. Hoping to copy the look of the geometric pattern runner on the stairs of the new build.

  2. Great choices! I *love* indoor/outdoor rugs. They’re durable and they’re often far less expensive than traditional rugs. Since I have two kids, I pretty much only use indoor/outdoor rugs in our rooms. I haven’t purchased any from Dash & Albert yet, though — will have to revisit their site!

    1. They really are perfect for life with kids and pets. I have pretty much stuck with wool rugs inside but I like the lighter feel, easy maintenance, and price of these. When we get around to replacing our threadbare family room needlepoint rug I think I will choose one of these. Thanks so much Kate! 💙

  3. These rugs look really good. Indoor/outdoor rugs are perfect when you have kids, dogs and cats running around. I already have a few, but will check out Dash & Albert. They are really pretty.

  4. I love my indoor/outdoor rugs. I recently added two to my front porch! I need to take a picture and feature them sometime….Elizabeth, thank you for answering my email – it has been a tremendous help!

  5. I have been looking at indoor/outdoor for pretty much everywhere in my house – with a 4 year old it’s mandatory! I saw a pink and white striped Dash &Albert for Gigi’s room and Ballard has some great indoor/outdoor options I was looking at for the guest room too. D&A also has a Bunny Williams line so you know I’m a fan :)! Great post!
