Links for the Weekend

Happy Saturday! This week’s links are a mix of things, including a pretty portfolio, before and afters, a few of my thoughts on a new HGTV show, and even a baby shower. Enjoy!

1.  I love the Hancock Design portfolio, especially the Goldwater Canyon project pictured above and in the header image — absolutely beautiful!

2. On Tuesday night, HGTV’s new show Hometown premiered and I really enjoyed it! Erin and her husband Ben are on a quest to fix up the old southern homes in their small town of Laurel, Mississippi. Although I am a huge fan of Fixer Upper, I like the classic, traditional southern architecture that this show features. You can see some pictures of the show on HGTV’s website here and here.

 3.  Is gray on its way out? Is taupe the new “in” color? Kate Riley of Centsational Girl blog wrote a post about taupe kitchen cabinets . I like the warmth that the color exudes.

4. This Palm Springs themed baby shower is incredible!! Those cactus cupcakes and this cactus cake are amazing!

5. This kitchen before and after by Becki Owens is something to see.

And that’s it for this weekend’s links. Have a great weekend!

  1. I love that taupe kitchen! It’s such an underrated color… or did we just get bored with it before? Whatever the case is, taupe is having a moment now and I’m glad to see a fresh take on such a versatile color. I get bored with things in my home quickly so a neutral like this works really well for me. Happy weekend…

    1. Vanessa, I totally agree with you. I love the taupe cabinets as well–gray can seem too cold and white can sometimes be too sterile–the taupe is a nice, warm neutral. I especially like it with brass accents. Something to think about when dreaming up a new kitchen! All the best, Elizabeth

      1. You’re spot on. I have a kitchen to redo and while I’ve previously been wanting an all white kitchen, lately been leaning more toward something like what you’ve posted here. Great example…thanks for sharing.
