Using Baskets as Wall Art

Baskets are useful and beautiful and add a natural, rustic touch to a space. Recently, I have been seeing baskets hung on walls in large groupings, and I love the bohemian vibe that they lend to a room and the unexpected texture and naturalness that they convey.

I am especially liking colorful African baskets like the ones below.

Aren’t they gorgeous? Baskets come in such a variety of price ranges–but I think with a little scouting you could make a grouping of them fairly economically. Keep an eye out for interesting baskets when you travel; a trip to a different region or country can be a good opportunity to pick up distinctive pieces for starting or adding to a collection.

Some good sources from which to purchase colorful African baskets are Baskets from AfricaOne Kings Lane ,and Etsy.

Below is a picture of the gallery wall in our living room. I recently added the tortoise shell shaped basket to the wall, and I like the texture it adds. It is from the Nate Berkus collection for Target and happens to be on sale right now. Link here.

  1. I really like these, particularly the Old Brand New dining room design. They seem to suit most spaces too – definitely one I’ll keep my eyes peeled for!

  2. I look forward to your posts, as there is something for everyone to enhance their home, and gift ideas . The African baskets wall hangings are a great idea for presents for one of my daughters who loves Bohemian decor! Thanks for this thought!

Also, the handmade soaps for place settings is something I would never have surmised!

    God bless and keep posting!
